The first dance is one of the most important songs for a wedding reception. Each year I reflect on the first dances chosen during the previous year.

2022 wedding first dances

Choosing your first dance can seem a daunting task if you don't have a particular song for you both. There are so many good songs that it you don't know where to start. As the list of first dances in 2022 show below, the choice is varied and there are lots of ways to help you.

There are some songs that might be deemed 'too upbeat' for a first dance and a solution to this is to find an acoustic version. Or you might be stuck between two songs, let me know and I'll see what I can do to merge the songs into one dance.

Last year was a bumper year with lots of weddings and such a great variety of first dances chosen:

• Jonas Brothers - When You Look Me In The Eyes
• Bon Jovi - Thank You For Loving Me
• Van Morrison - Someone Like You
• Frank Turner - There She Is
• Cascada - Everytime We Touch (Yanous Candlelight Mix)
• Arctic Monkeys - Baby I'm Yours
• The Chainsmokers & Coldplay - Something Just Like This
• Katie Melua - Nine Million Bicycles
• Tim McGraw - My Best Friend & Rascal Flatts - Bless The Broken Road
• Jon Boden - How Long Will I Love You?
• Michael Buble - Everything
• James Morrison - You Make It Real
• Andy Williams - Can't Take My Eyes Off You
• George Benson - Nothings Gonna Change My Love For You
• Matt Johnson - The One (Acoustic Piano)
• Theory Of A Deadman - Easy To Love
• Ane Brun - Oh Love
• Santana - Smooth
• The National - Slow Show
• Barry Louis Polisar - All I Want Is You
• Noah Reid - Simply The Best
• Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
• Enrique Iglesias - Hero
• Charlie Puth - One Call Away
• Harry James - It's Been A Long Time
• iCrooner - Hooked On A Feeling

I'm certainly not going to try and choose my favourite from that list! Looking ahead to this year and it's likely that I'll be in the same position next year.
