On Friday I was at Mersham Sports Club for Sarah & Tracy's joint birthday party, setup in a marquee within the grounds.

Set in the outskirts of the village, the club is surrounded by the Kent countryside although if you look closely you can just make out the Eurostar trains passing by in the distance.

It was truly a fun evening and I enjoyed playing Faithless - Insomnia and Underworld - Born Slippy, which both went down really well.

I was setup in a marquee in the club grounds, which like any marquee brings some unique challenges.

The main challenge is providing a safe electrical supply that I can use. In some marquees the power is supplied by a generator however I prefer, where possible, to have a 'normal' supply from a nearby building.

Generators don't always provide a constant power supply and with the amount of equipment being used I need to ensure it's protected. Some long power extension cables soon solved this problem at Mersham.

If you're planning a function in a marquee, here are some useful tips for marquee events.

I added some photos from the event on my Facebook page.
